Bahurupi
Lalit Kala Akademi
Vadehra Art Gallery presents 'Bahurupi' by A. Ramachandran. The omnipresent Ramachandran, originator and creator, finally takes a form in the complex sculpture Bahurupi. He is no longer symbolic of what he creates but has now made himself manifest, displaying his many functions.
He is the gana the heavenly attendant on who stand the four seasons (or time); he represents the integration of the human and the animal in the goat-man keeping the rhythm of his universe alive with his music; he is the mukhalinga, symbol of Lord Siva’s divine phallus and the Avalokateshwara of his art, creating a new world of form and imagery. He is the Bahurupi who demarcates his terrain in the form of a snail and who has joyously brought into existence unreal hot pink flowers humming with life, purple mountains and deep blue skies.
